Sure-Fire Networking Gold

By: Natasha Crestani - Inspired Honey

The best way to network hands-down is to keep your mouth closed! Yes, you heard me right. Give the people you meet a chance to talk about themselves. If you can resist bragging about your business, you can walk away from an event with a wealth of new tips and information from the strangers you meet. Guess what? People LOVE nothing better than to talk about themselves!

The next best strategy is to step out of your comfort zone. On the way to the event, mentally resolve to speak to at least three new people. When you arrive, resist the temptation to make a beeline across the room to the waiting arms of the one person you DO know. Instead, wave at them from afar while you make your way over to a stranger.

My psychologist husband has a strategy of his own. Stay near the food table! Like elephants at a watering hole, it’s the one place you’ll be guaranteed to meet that exclusive person in the engaging conversation across the room. The one you don’t want to interrupt. People are also more relaxed over fetta cheese and coffee.

Try networking to a captive audience! Once you’ve identified your target audience, you’ll realise that on certain days of the year, most of them are all sitting in one place. Tradeshows and exhibitions are where are your target audience are promoting their goods and services.
Does your business help travel agents in some way? Go to the Travel Expo. Your audience is exhibiting there! They’re more receptive than normal because they’re the ones wanting to sell their products, rather than resisting being sold to. They have time to chat and you have hundreds of potential customers ALL IN ONE ROOM!

Put my ideas to the test and then email me with your results. I can guarantee you’ll be successful.
