Adelaide Letterboxes1. Tell us about your business Adelaide Letterboxes is a Local & National supplier of Domestic and Commercial Mailboxes. We make most our products ourselves or source from other Australian companies. 2. When and why did you start your business? Adelaide Letterboxes is a family business. David Wood previously owned a Fencing Company and realised through his customers that there was a need for more variety in the Mailbox area. In 1996 -He opened Adelaide Letterboxes and now runs the business with his wife, Robyn-lynn. 3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business? Successfully marketing our range of letterboxes to both the Domestic & Commercial clientele and being able to create a family business. 4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business? Most people thought David was 'mad' turning his back on a reputable Fencing business in order to start a business solely built on mailboxes. It took a few years to get the Domestic clients who always visited hardware stores to shop with us for their mailboxes. Also, creating a working relationship with the Tradepersons. 5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business? Word of mouth, Yellow Pages and all things to do with the Internet. 6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business? Newspaper advertisements and mail drop - short term success but did not last. Home and Garden Expos - long hours, costly and few long term benefits. 7. Name your favourite thing about your business Everyday is a challenge - everyone wants something different and we aim to provide what they are after. Meeting new people and continuing to see our network of Tradespersons grow. 8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you? Anyone who was has successfully been able to create a business where no one else saw the potential. 9. What are your plans for the future of your business? To continue to grow 10.
