Tell us about your business Our business does not only carry a collection of uniquely designed bags, jewellery & accessories that are affordable, but we have a unique concept when it come to party plan. Unlike other party plans where you have to wait for your orders, ours is like having your own boutique with your own exclusive guests in the comfort of your own home. Your purchases can be taken home right away. We also stock limited number of items of each product to keep the collection fresh. We don't follow fashion fads, but are our collection are tailored to the discerning customer who loves being unique. The collection is versatile and would suit most occasions. It's about being free to dress the way YOU want to. We also provide a personalised service where you can contact us for any gift ideas, or just for ideas on what to accessorise with for that special occasion. Our collection can also be purchased via our secure online E-Shop or by having an E-Party. 2. When and why did you start your business? The business started in October 2006. It began as an idea to have a party plan where people would get to bring home their purchases home on the spot. I was sick of going to parties where I had to wait for my purchases and also impose on the host who usually had to distribute the orders to her guests. Some would say the downside is that I would have to bring EVERYTHING with me each time I go to a party. But that's not true. You just have to know the demographics and interests of the hostess and guests to know what to bring along. Plus, we have an online store where people can see some of the collection. 3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business? I have managed to get a pretty good and regular customer base, who appreciate the collection and way I do business. They love how personal, and observant I am. For instance, I know what to show certain potential customers and regular customers just by looking at their style and taste, without having to waste their time on things they are not interested in. 4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business? Getting your name out there is really hard on a small budget. But I managed to do that by donating gifts for events, forming strategic alliances, and also through social networking media. 5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business? Strategic alliances, showcasing my products at reputable markets, social networking media. 6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business? I can't really say there were any less successful activity, as to me they were all a valuable way of getting my business out there. They might be small increments, but increments nonetheless. Every bit counts. 7. Name your favourite thing about your business Being able to get to know my customers. That's the best thing. I love getting personal, it just sets the business into a different dimension. 8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you? Jodie, from Dead Sea Source Australia (www.deadsea.com.au). Her sheer determination and focus is what astounds me. Whatever she touches just turns to gold so to speak. 9. What are your plans for the future of your business? I hope to grow and have the party plan service available in different states, as now it's only available in Melbourne Metro areas. Also have some other forms of interaction with my potential and current customers, besides just through email, party plan or phone. 10. Share your best business tip with our readers. Be genuine. I think the best way is to be politely honest. Don't try and sell something just because you want to sell it, make sure it suits the person. People can tell when you're lying.
