1. Tell us about your business

Button baby is an online store for babies, toddlers and their mums! With a range of fashion, toys, gifts and accessories from both Australia and overseas.

2. When and why did you start your business?

Button baby went live in May 2009. Button baby was started because I wanted to offer an online shopping experience for people who are busy and want to buy quality products for their bubs from the comfort of their home, office or any where. As a mother of young children i appreciated the ease of online shopping!

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

I have started with nothing and created something that I am passionate about and that is successful.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

So many... Not being able to do everything when it comes to the website, the technical stuff. I am learning and you need good people!

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

Online marketing is probably the most important and Google!

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

You can't always tell what is effective because the business is relatively new. All publicity is good publicity....

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

I love being able to work from home and fit my hours around my family. I love to create this gorgeous store full of products that I believe in. I love the contact with my customers that email me at 3am!

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

I work with, buy from and employ mums who have worked out a way to run a business or earn an income around their children. These women inspire me. My husband who has his own business never ceases to inspire me.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

I would like to continue to develop and grow, offering more product and continue to improve the website. We are only a year old so marketing Button baby as a trusted brand is paramount.

Use your time wisely, it is so easy to get distracted with emails. Write a plan for each day and stick to it! Spend time on marketing your business every day!
