1. Tell us about your business

I am a Marriage Celebrant. I also do Baby Naming, Renewal of Vows and Commitment Ceremonies.

2. When and why did you start your business?

In Townsville in 2005.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

I've meet some amazing couples and made their special day memorable.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

Competition of other Celebrants. The Attorney General lifted the ceiling on the number of Celebrants in any given area and now their is an abundance of Celebrants.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

I've used a number of Wedding sites, and Google AdWords have also worked well. I also have advertising on my car (I love being stuck in traffic gives people time to read my information)

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

Advertising in the Courier Mail was a waste of my money.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

Meeting people and hearing their stories. Also making people so happy.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

Marketing companies inspire me to improve my presence in the marketplace. Irena Yashin-Shaw has a company called Speaking Edge and she is so inspirational.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

Continue advertising to make my business grow. I would like to have one Ceremony (at least) each week.

10. Share your best business tip with our readers.

Be out there. Visit wedding venues. Wear a nametag at every opportunity and always be nice to everyone you meet, you never know who might need your services.
