Tell us about your business I facilitate creative writing workshops with community groups to unearth stories and create theatre pieces for public performance. 2. When and why did you start your business? I started my business in West Australia in 2009, because I love writing and I love helping other people to tell their stories. I already have 7 years of experience working as a professional playwright for Barking Gecko Theatre Company, and collaborated on many community thatre projects. I began this business because I have a passion for this kind of work and would like to expand. 3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business? I have achieved immense personal rewards working with Aboriginal communities to explore issues of literacy, violence and marginalization. I have also enjoyed working with intellectually handicapped young adults to unearth and perform stories. I particularily love working with marginalized community groups who struggle to find a voice in society. 4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business? Finding enough clients in a small place like Western Australia. But the business is new and I'm optimistic that it will grow. 5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business? Business cards, flyers, word of mouth. 6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business? It's too early to tell. 7. Name your favourite thing about your business It is creative and passionate. It creates joy and unites communities. It unearths stories that need to be told and gives the disenfranchised a voice. 8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you? Barking Gecko Theatre Company, Jeremy Rice (former director) 9. What are your plans for the future of your business? To expand and network so that I'm eventually accepting commisions on a national and international level. 10. Share your best business tip with our readers.
