Credit Card Compare

www.creditcardcompare.com.au

1. Tell us about your business

We've found that most people have a credit card that doesn't really suit them or worse still, is making it hard for them to get out of credit card debt. Credit Card Compare basically lets people shop around for the best credit card. Currently we have over 50 credit cards from the major banks and credit unions on there for you to you compare. We help to to give you financial control. There's no costs to the consumer and its quick and easy to do. Once you have found the card you want, simply click on the apply button and we transfer you over to the bank where you can make your secure application. If approved, within a week or so you'll have a new credit card to put in your wallet.

2. When and why did you start your business?

Our comparison website has been online since February 2008.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with your business?

Learned an awful lot about banking services. And, a big part of what we do is to understand personal finances so we can give advice on our blog. The owners of the site have their financial house in order.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

To grow we compete for visitors to our website. And, competition in our vertical has been heating up massively which means we constantly have to keep pushing forward just to stay where we are.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

Building up a readership and reaching people through sites like Thinking Business and people on social media sites.

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

I would love to be able to say we have no weaknesses but I can't. Least successful for marketing is more of a strategic thing that so many site owners also face. We depend on organic search traffic to the neglect of other sources.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

That its online. The co-founders of Credit Card Compare have been in business and start ups since 2000 and there's much to be said about doing business online in a direct B-to-C way. Especially since, in our current business model we don't deal with customer service - its all up to the banks once we deliver them a new customer.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

Gary Vaynerchuk, owner of Wine Library. His passion is hard to ignore and he's got the results to back up what he says.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

Keep on growing our reach through search and building our audience through our blog.

10. Share your best business tip with our readers.

Our top business tip is not a new one, but it is a good one that you can use regardless of your business model. My best business tip is boring but it is to stay organised from the beginning. We have a team that spans multiple timezones and have found Basecamp (or similar) to be excellent as well as simple Google Docs for sharing and coordinating projects.
