1. Tell us about your business

Decor by Design is all about providing an affordable decorating option for walls. Wall Decals are removable so they are the perfect decorating solution. You can change your mind anytime and makes it easy to decorate if you are renting without any landlord issues.

2. When and why did you start your business?

I started Decor by Design about 18 months ago. I have owned a number of online stores but have a love for decorating and colour so loved the combination of both by using Wall Decals.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

I have been able to establish a strong brand in the marketplace and create my own range of Wall Decals under our Wall Stuck Up brand.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

Money - I want to create so many decals but funds are limited as it is an expensive business to operate when creating your own decals.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

Competitions and Expos have proven to be the biggest avenues for promotion. Advertising in small local magazines.

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

Magazine advertising in major magazines just doesn't have the return required.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

Seeing the after photos when clients have created their new rooms.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

Women who own their own business and juggle a family. I feel that people underestimate how much has to be done to keep a family, business and home all running smoothly so any woman that can do this provides me with information.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

I have to be careful what I say here as unfortunately their are competitiors who will run with an idea that is not their own but lets just say that bigger and better things will eventuate.

10. Share your best business tip with our readers.

Be organised! It is essential that your business is organsed. Know when bills are due, where your stock level is at and outsource any tasks that you don't particularly like doing. There is no point wasting time doing bookkeeping if you can pay someone to do it in half the time.
