1. Tell us about your business

Express Radiators is an Australian owned and run family company with over 30 years experience that endeavors to make your radiator repairs quick and painless. Our aim is to provide our customers with a degree of personal service unmatched in the industry till this time. Express Radiators is committed to being environmentally friendly with very little waste and a full recycling program.

2. When and why did you start your business?

My Husband and Myself started in November 2008, we both previously worked in the Industry, and found many Radiator Shops were putting the prices up so high, a new radiator was out of reach. We decided to open our own Radiator Shop and bring the prices back down to reality.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

Over the past 4 months we have seen our business grow more than we anticipated, We have many trade customers and many people from the public using our services. Word of Mouth is our best advertising tool.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

I guess the biggest challenge we have faced, is waiting for the money to roll in, especially with trade customers who have a 30 day account. We started this business with very little cashflow. Boy have we learnt the hard way.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

We have tried many different advertising methods, I think Internet advertising has been our biggest friend.

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

Our least successful marketing was definately newspaper advertising. We used this service for about 6 weeks and not 1 reply.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

Our good old fashioned service. If you have a query about anything we will take the time to speak to you. We will fix your problem at a reasonable price.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

The little guy giving it a go. There are to many big businesses out there trying to make the little guy go broke. Fight Fight Fight.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

Eventually we would like to be able to employ another two radiator fitters and possibly go into the air conditioning side of the market.

10. Share your best business tip with our readers.

Talk to everyone about your business. Always have business cards with you, even at the hairdressers or the supermarket.
