We specialise in Accredited Coach Training offer a Certificate IV in Business and Personal Coaching. FIREUP offers Coach Training and Coaching services as well as leadership training based on coaching frameworks. 2. When and why did you start your business?

I started my business in 1998 upon returning from studying NLP in Canada for 2 years. I loved the self awareness it gave me and wanted to share that with health professionals and business people to see how it could impact their communication. I originally studied nursing and then took a different direction working for Flight Centres for 7 years. My combined experience in business and health meant that I had a great understanding of what was needed to help people connect more effectively with others.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

We have run programs that have had transformational results for many people and you never know the ripple effect of the learnings beyond the training room. Adding coaching has been the most powerful change in the past 10 years as people achieve much greater success when coached after any training program. I have personally supported many people in achieving both business and personal transformations.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

The biggest challenge has been learning that you cannot be all things to all people so to decide what area is most rewarding both personally and financially and building the business around that.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

Speaking at conferences and booths at exhibitions are a great way to promote ourselves but by far the greatest promotion is our clients being happy and referring others. We have long standing relationships and get great word of mouth referral due to people having such profound experiences themselves.

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

Print advertising has little impact these days and untargeted email campaigns have little success either.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

Having it succeed.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

I was fortunate to work with Geoff Harris at Flight Centres who was a great inspiration and still will offer a word of support anytime I ask for it. I also admire Angela who runs Careerlink in Adelaide and manages to have a successful business, be a great mum and a wonderful person all at the same time.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

We plan to be the leaders of Coach Training in the Health Industry and Emergency Services. Health Coaching will see enormous growth in the next decade and we plan to be leaders in providing quality, accredited training that makes a huge impact on the health outcomes of our nation.
