Funky Photography

www.funkyphotography.com.au

1. Tell us about your business

Fresh fun and funky photography across the sunshine coast queensland, australia. I specialise in fine art images of children from toddlers to teens and also commercial children's photography.

2. When and why did you start your business?

I started my business about 6 years ago after becoming very disillusioned with my then occupation, a Registered Nurse. I have always been a photographer, but had let my family and work life take over my passion.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with your business?

Greater client base. I have families that come back faithfully every year, which is fabulous as I see them grow! I also developed a one to one mentored service and education programme for up and coming photographers and also a workbook.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

The over saturated market! With photography remaining unregulated, anyone can pick up a camera and start a photography business! It has meant the sunshine coast has a huge number of photographers.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

articles, blogging, special events, social networking (Facebook).

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

Advertising in children's magazines, letter drops in the local area.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

Working with families to achieve heartwarming and soulful unique images that will be passed down from generation to generation.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

Jinkyart, sheye rosemeyer, kate austin, jesh de rox, megan cristello are all amazing photographers.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

To concentrate on providing unique photographic services in the area and expand my mentoring programme into workshops for child photographers from across Australia

10. Share your best business tip with our readers.

Work from the heart and listen to your clients, they are after all, our bread and butter.
