G.Thomas Films1. Tell us about your business Independent filmmaking based in Melbourne 2. When and why did you start your business? Because I was tired of working for other people, and wanted to focus on, and follow my dream of owning a production company. 3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with your business? I am working for myself, I am moving forward and have made some valuable contacts in the industry. 4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business? Having no stable income - not knowing where of when the next job will come in. 5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business? Having a website, and advertising on job directory sites. 6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business? Free listings on wedding sites - you really need to pay to use these and have an attractive job listing on these sites. I also did a mail drop, but this didn't seem fruitful - although I was very new to the game. 7. Name your favourite thing about your business Watching it grow. It is a slow process which at times feels like nothing is happening. Especially in a creative industry like film. You just have to hang tight and keep promoting yourself. 8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you? Independent companies that build themselves to become giants in the industry - hopefully me one day! 9. What are your plans for the future of your business? Build on the business to incorporate every film medium/design aspect to have anything and everything on offer.
