Heart2heart Ceremonies1. Tell us about your business I provide ceremonies to celebrate or mark all of life's important occasions from baby namings to weddings to house or business premises blessings to celebrations of life. 2. When and why did you start your business? I started my business five years ago because I believe we need to acknowledge the milestones in our lives with appropriate ceremony and ritual. This gives a sense of our place in society and also brings the message that the things we do in life are important and should be celebrated and commemorated. 3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with your business? I have helped many families to celebrate the different occasions in their lives, often performing several ceremonies for the same family. I continually work to improve my services and I generally have bookings every week of the year for ceremonies. 4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business? Challenges are educating the public that not every celebrant is the same and not every ceremony is the same. Celebrants are usually the cheapest part of the whole day, no matter whether it is a birthday celebration, a naming, a wedding or a memorial service. Yet no two celebrants are alike. A cheaper celebrant may not deliver the same quality service as one a little bit more expensive. Often the adage that "you get what you pay for" does ring true in this profession. 5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business? Word of mouth, listing in directories, networking 6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business? Listing in expensive directories, magazine advertising, newspaper advertising 7. Name your favourite thing about your business I get to be creative and meet lots of wonderful people 8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you? Lots of women in business inspire me 9. What are your plans for the future of your business? To keep on going! 10.
