1. Tell us about your business

We import and sell diamond tools and associated equipment for stone and construction. We have the largest online diamond tool store in the country, with around 3,000 products and operate a showroom in Leichhardt, which is in the inner west of Sydney.

2. When and why did you start your business?

Around 20 years ago we switched from being salespeople for another company to starting our own family business. We had little choice as the company we were working for was not doing well....

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with your business?

Building a client base and supplying them with products and services that our competitiors wouldn't do.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

Cashflow, bad debtors.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

Online Store and being on the road.

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

Print media.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

Having clients long term that are now friends! And helping them out with good service.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

I don't really class myself as a businessman, i just try to do it my way!

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

Keep it small and personal, but continue to challenge our competitiors with better pricing and value.

Put in the hours. Do your best to please a customer. Be flexible with everything if it means getting a sale (opening hours/discounts etc)
