1. Tell us about your business

I own and operate my own on line fabric store, with a wide and growing collection of home furnishing fabrics for each and every room. Quilting fabrics and the largest collection of Oilcloth laminated cottons in Australia.

2. When and why did you start your business?

I started selling on line a year and half ago, when I was unable to find the fabrics i needed for home projects.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

I have achieved a greater knowledge of customer service, and learnt that enquiries do matter even if you dont stock that item.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

Getting organised is a great challenge, and managing time to fit it all into a busy home life with young children. Not having run a business before, finding wholesale opportunities was a challenging prospect.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

Free directories, google and work of mouth, have worked really well for me.

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

Paid for advertising which comes very expensive is not as successful as I was led to beleive.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

My favourite thing is receiving fantastic feedback from customers who have received their orders on fabric or home made items. This is a real boost.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

I'm inspired by great designers, and artists, whose work and known in every home. Id love to have my business name known as a household name.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

To grow and be the best on line fabric store on the Gold Coast and Australia.

My best business tips are great customer service, advertising in free directories and linking to others. Time consuming but worth it.
