Not Merely Crafts1. Tell us about your business My business is selling craft and collectable stuff. Craft tools, half completed items, brand new items, books, collectables and best of all the newest board game to hit Australia, The Aussie Trek Board Game®. This game can be a fast moving but always educational trip around Australia for under $100.00 2. When and why did you start your business? The business was started because there was a need to sell different craft items at a realistic prices. I started selling these first, then realised I could put my board game on the same site, as I wasn't specifically selling crafts. I started the business in 2004. My board game was also developed in that year. 3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business? I have achieved getting my board game into the wider community, but not nearly enough, hence the new website and the featuring of the board game as a specific item. I have also achieved selling some of my craft stuff, some collectables, and some books. 4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business? The biggest challenge I have found is getting my products out into the community as much as I would like. I need more advertising where people actually see what a great game the board game is and what a good and different website I have. 5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business? The activities that I have had are linking to some websites that sell craft stuff and board games. 6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business? Using an Austion site that was not widely known about in Australia even though it is Australian. 7. Name your favourite thing about your business The favourite thing I like about my business is meeting all the lovely online community who link up to my website, and with whom I have struck up a friendship as well as having them buy some products. 8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you? The businesses that have been successful- Bead It Beads, Catching Angels 9. What are your plans for the future of your business? My plan is to get enough promotion of my board game/website to get someone out there in eworld to offer to purchase the trademark for the game so that it can be more widely distributed. 10. Share your best business tip with our readers. The best business tip I could give anybody is treat your customers as you would like to be treated- honestly, fairly, and offer products that have accurate descriptions and are at the right price.
