1. Tell us about your business

PamperBoxes is an online retailer of luxurious, heartfelt, affordable gift boxes for women, men and couples. Customers can choose one of the themed gift boxes or customise their own unique PamperBox by selecting from the range of chocolates, journals, aromatherapy candles, relaxation CDs, inspirational gifts and bath and body products. PamperBoxes make memorable personal or corporate gifts. Gifts boxes are ordered online and delivered Australia-wide and internationally.

2. When and why did you start your business?

I started my business earlier this year. The idea for the concept came to me after being hospitalised with major depression last year. Psychology staff suggested making up a 'self-soothing box' containing items that give an emotional pick-me-up. I have since turned this idea into my business.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with your business?

Tremendous satisfaction in bringing an idea to fruition. And pleasure in providing thoughtful, personal gifts - especially for the challenging times in a person's life.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

As an online business the constant challenge is letting people know that you exist!

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

Sponsoring events by donating products, joining womens' online networks, joining a mentoring program.

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

Paid advertising in the print media - as far as return on outlay.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

The favourable feedback from customers.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

Jodie Metaxiotis - from The Garden Agency - she is my mentor and a great inspiration. Zappos.com - an online retail store from the U.S. whose customer service is legendary.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

Infiltrate the corporate gifting market. Franchise retail outlets.

Passion, passion, passion is everything - you have to believe in what you are doing. And be persistent and patient - it's not going to happen overnight. Exceptional customer service - under-promise and over-deliver every time.
