1. Tell us about your business

Online photography store selling my limited edition photography. The main stock is Impressionist Art photgraphy printed in limited editions on ready to hang canvas. I also sell All Occasion Cards of my images.

2. When and why did you start your business?

I started the business in 2007 when my photographic work took on a new direction in the form of Impressionist Art. I wanted to create images that looked like a painting once they were printed onto the canvas. I wanted to create unusual but beautiful affordable art for everyone.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

I now understand how websites work and can now do the updates myself. I have become more familiar with digital files and print layouts. I have also pushed myself creatively to shoot new work which I am able to use commercially.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

Finances! Each new image is printed on the canvas so it can be shot to show more detail on the website. It has also been difficult promoting the work online as its hard for people to visualise what the canvas looks like.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

Word of mouth is at the moment the most successful. I also design a postcard of each series I produce so people can see all of the images in that series. These are then displayed in public places to attract more visitors to the website. I also hang the work in some public places and keep rotating them round so you get to see the new work.

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

E-mail marketing and Myspace!

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

It's my hobby as a well as an creative output for me.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

I like an online business called Pascoe Pop Art, really clever website and idea with a quick turn around with your order. Flying Solo is a e-mail newsletter which I find helpful and it makes me question certain aspects of my business.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

To get gallery spaces to take my work on consignment. To team up with Interior Stylists and designers who will use my work in their room designs. To expand my designs to fabric and textiles.
