Users only need to create an account and start creating. Suppliers of interior design products can promote products directly to designers by submitting product images and information to the Sample Board Online library.

2. When and why did you start your business?

SBO was developed in South Africa by designers for designers. The high cost and time spent creating manual sample boards and the time spent gather the materials for the board was the main reason for the development of this eco friendly design tool. I discovered this brilliant tool when writing a tutorial on How to Present Your Design Ideas last year.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

Confidence and satisfaction. The development of skills I never knew I had. Meeting so many wonderful people online from around the world. The satisfaction of offering a great free service to busy designers.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

The main challenge has been getting the suppliers to come on board. Knowing where and when to advertise the Sample Board Online website.

Writing articles, blogging and social networking.

Direct email approaches to suppliers. Cold calling has also been less successful.

Eco friendly companies. People who create business online because they have an illness that makes working away from home difficult.

To expand Sample Board Online globally. To develop a vast and brilliant library of interior design products for the designers who create sample boards on SBO site. To promote the suppliers products skillfully.
