Urban Dezign is a boutique interior decorating and design business based in Brisbane. European style - Australian design! We do styling of properties, colour schemes, using Feng Shui techniques for balance and harmony as well as helping with decluttering of homes, office space and business.We take pride in being professional using innovation in solving any interior decorating matter.

2. When and why did you start your business?

I have worked with interior design/decorating since the mid 1980's and have alwasy had a passion for decorating and design with sleek and contemporary style. I registered Urban Dezign as a business in 2008 and enjoy working with a diverse client based be it residential, small business or not for profit organisations.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

Satisfaction of establishing a business and being self sufficient financially. Feedback from clients that they are happy with my work and referring me on to other people who can use my services. Quality of life - since I can have time for other interests that I have and my travels.

4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business?

Keeping up with the technological developments like blogs, twitter etc. Being organised in my administrative work.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

South East Brisbane Chamber of Commerce and other networks. Linking with people from other businesses and listening to what they are doing and how I can be of assistance. Donating free 1 hour consultation to charity auction. Word by mouth from clients. Building relationships with suppliers.

6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business?

Have advertised in home magasine but have not had any response or call from clients

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

Diversity of client base and diverse work - from straight consultation to larger projects. Conducting workshops for young women "Interior Decorating on a Budget" and see how engaged they were in their homes.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

Colleagues and members from the different networks I participate in.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

Keep developing professional services and do quality work. Include more of European style in my services.
