Waldemar Jewellers1. Tell us about your business Waldemar Jeweller is unique, bespoke jewellery service, designing and crafting individual items of jewellery. We only use the highest trained master jewellers and use the highest quality materials available guaranteeing each and every item of jewellery is loved for a lifetime. 2. When and why did you start your business? The company was opened on my arrival to Australia in 2004. The main reason for opening Waldemar Jewellers was to have interaction with people, also to offer people the ability to design their own jewellery, and still get great value for money. 3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business? On a personal level I love having interaction with new a interesting people. The business has forced me out of my comfort zone in so many area. The main gain so far has been public speaking, was a nervous wreck 3 years ago. 4. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business? Being such a luxury product my main challenge has been getting people to know I exist, finding marketing that works and not throwing money away. 5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business? The website has been by far the most successful marketing tool that has worked for Waldemar Jewellers, and the focusing on the local market. 6. What activities were less successful for marketing your business? Magazines have been the least successful, maybe just bad ads or bad placement but no return on investment. 7. Name your favourite thing about your business Getting to see peoples faces when they collect the finished item of jewellery. I'm very lucky that I'm in such a happy industry being people getting engaged, married etc.. it's great. 8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you? I've been listening a lot to Zig Ziglar at the moment which is great and would recommend him to every one. In terms of businesses I look at Boodles in the UK love their image and the director there was a really great guy. 9. What are your plans for the future of your business? Looking at expanding the company back to the UK, to headhunt up a coming designers to join the company so it can grow, whilst keeping the individual design service. 10. Share your best business tip with our readers. The 80/20 rule, 80% of income comes from 20% of your work/clients focus all your effort on that 20%.
