After 20 years in Financial Services both Financial Planning and then General Insurance, I tired of the office politics and decided that for my sanity I needed my own business, hence I purchased ab fab.

3. On a personal level, what have you achieved with of your business?

In the short space of time I have owned this business I have changed it from a struggling, not very well run and "systemless" business into on with good controls and MIS. We are well on the way to re establishing the brand as the preferred home and office removals company on the Sunshine Coast.

4. What are some of the challenges you've faced in growing your business?

Containing the previous owner's spending and lack of financial control. Also creating consistent labour for a permanent casual labour force.

5. What activities have been successful in promoting your business?

Radio and Google of late. Most of our business is repeat and referral.

Business Networking strangely enough has been very slow. Yellow Pages has not been great; it would appear that most people use YP to look for our number when the stimulus was something else.

7. Name your favourite thing about your business

The freedom it gives me and the simplicity is good. The brand is well know which I like and was really the reason I bought the business.

8. Who or what other businesses or business people inspire you?

Real Estate inspires me strangely enough. I am a Goal driven person and I enjoy the ability to control one\'s own destiny.

9. What are your plans for the future of your business?

To grow the fleet and to diversify the product offering.

10. Share your best business tip with our readers.

To consistently maintain integrity in all you do and to run a business prudently. In other words ensure you have the business controls and measurements in place and NEVER spend money you have not got!
