New Young Entrepreneur

Lauren Durbridge is a young lady who has a love for animals and has always had a passion to work with them. After many years volunteering and studying different animal related courses, she was accepted to the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS). She is now the proud founder and owner of Happy Pets dog walking and holistic pet care a business servicing Sydney’s CBD, Inner west & Eastern suburbs.

NEIS is an Australian Government initiative to help eligible unemployed people to establish and run a viable new business. After being accepted into the programme, participants are trained in a certificate four in small business management. After successfully completing that they start running their business, with ongoing business mentoring for the first twelve months.

We have all have a dream and this is a great example of someone making the most of what services are on offer to them and using them to their advantage. This programme has helped Lauren take her dream, her skills and her idea and turn them into a viable business.

Lauren is passionate about animals. ‘Over the years I have done many things to feed my passion for animals from studying animal care, caring for injured wild life, work at the zoo and volunteered in veterinary clinics and pet shelters. While doing this I noticed that, there is a great demand for dog walkers a pet carers and that not one of them are taking a total care approach, hence my holistic dog walking & pet care business.’

Lauren is now in the running for the City of Sydney Business Awards.
