No Roof Penetration With New Solar PanelSolarSwitch has added a new solar panel to its range that requires no roof penetration, which is ideal for concrete roofs as the fragile waterproof membrane remains intact. The Solyndra panel is made up of a series of cylindrical modules that are light weight and allow air to flow between them so conventional mounting hardware is not required. The panels have been tested and are certified for use in winds up to 208km/h. Because wind blows through Solyndra's panels and the panels can be mounted horizontally, simple, non-penetrating mounting hardware is used. No roof penetrations, attachments or ballast are needed. This means Solyndra systems can also be easily relocated for roof maintenance or building work. The cylindrical modules have a 360 degree photovoltaic surface which means the panels can be mounted horizontally and more of the sunlight that hits the roof is captured and converted into electricity; effectively the modules passively track the sun. Solyndra panels are ideal for commercial applications or strata buildings with large low pitch roofs, to maximise energy production while minimising the impact on the building. “SolarSwitch is pleased to be able to offer this revolutionary design to customers looking for an alternative to conventional flat plate panels” said Adam Tesoriero, Director of SolarSwitch. Solyndra is a US Multi-national company and the panel is made in America. The 27,000 square meter state of the art manufacturing facility was recently visited by US President Barrack Obama.
