Stockland Rated Most Sustainable Diversified Property Group in the WorldStockland has been named one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World at the 2010 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Stockland has been named one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World at the 2010 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Stockland was recognised by magazine, Corporate Knights, as the leading diversified property group and the 24th most sustainable company in the world. The Group was one of only eight Australian companies to make the list. Stockland General Manager Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, Siobhan Toohill, said the company was delighted to be recognised for its commitment. "As a property developer, we have significant capacity to shape environmental and social outcomes at our projects. We aim to integrate sustainability principles into the way we work, to deliver long-term value to our customers, tenants, investors and business partners. "In particular, our environmental systems and results continue to lift. Over the past three years, we have reduced the intensity of our greenhouse gas emissions by 24 percent in our office buildings and 16 percent in our retail centres. "Community development is also a key priority for us. In developing new communities, it is important we are proactive in identifying the needs of the local and wider community." Corporate Knights published its ranking after collecting data on 3,000 global public companies and evaluating it against 10 environmental, social and governance performance metrics. An eleventh indicator was added for transparency. Stockland was recognised in Davos just one month after being named Ethical Investor's 2009 Australian Sustainable Company of the Year, and the second leading Australian Listed Property Company in Maastricht University's Environmental Real Estate Index.
