Youngest Ever To Win IMA Award

Self Taught 23-Year-Old Youngest Ever To Win IMA Award

Melbourne, VIC - 23 year old James Hazelton’s media studio EVODENCE (www.evodence.com) wins Outstanding Achievement for Web Design/Development in the 2009 Interactive Media Awards (IMA).

EVODENCE is the youngest team ever to win an IMA award by individual ages & team establishment. It is also the first to develop ‘full-screen anti-alias cross-browser compatible, aspectscalable imagery using primarily CSS’, and exclusively features Hazelton’s photography which lead to the award.

"I’m thrilled that EVODENCE has been recognised by the board of IMC (Interactive Media Council) judges that include companies Microsoft, The New York Times, Cadbury Schweppes, and American Express, for all the hard work involved." said James Hazelton founder and producer of EVODENCE | aesthetic communication. "To win an IMA in the first months of EVODENCE operating as an inhouse team is fantastic."

Hazelton has no formal training in multimedia design, photography, or entrepreneurship, instead teaching himself entirely through experimentation and the internet from the age of 13. 2009 saw Hazelton move from Newcastle NSW to Melbourne’s CBD and employ his first team of developer Suryadi Lawira and editor Ingrid Bruggestrass (both 22-years-old) under the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Launching his efforts as a new project in January 2009, the aim was to rejuvenate the presence and persona of EVODENCE, while staying in touch with its distinctive and attractive design roots. The concept for the re-design was to engage viewers through visual display, and be informative with minimal distraction. It boasts Hazelton’s full-screen imagery compatible with – at least - Firefox, Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8, and Opera, a new achievement as the site was primarily developed with CSS.
