Corporate teams strive for Marathon honours

The battle is on in the world of corporate health on the Gold Coast!

Businesses and workplaces have started to recruit teams for this year’s Gold Coast Airport Marathon to be held on Sunday 5 July.

Who will have the largest team? Which team will run the most kilometres? Who will showcase the greatest spirit? All of these will be determined in the Corporate Teams Challenge, an annual part of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon.

This year MyFun.com.au has joined the event to sponsor the exclusive teams’ area at the Marathon to be called the MyFun TeamZone. MyFun.com.au is the online home of Australia’s favourite theme parks including Sea World, Warner Bros. Movie World, Wet ‘n’ Wild Water World, Australian Outback Spectacular and Paradise Country Australian Farm Tour.

General Manager of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon Cameron Hart said more and more organisations are using events like the Gold Coast Airport Marathon to promote corporate health and teamwork.

"The Gold Coast Airport Marathon provides an opportunity for businesses and organisations to participate," said Hart.

"It is a great way to promote a healthy work and life balance, provide a challenge for staff and their families, and have a fun social day."

Apart from developing a healthy and active workplace, there are a multitude of other incentives for corporate teams to enter this year’s Gold Coast Airport Marathon.

Tickets to Sea World, Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet ‘n’ Wild will be offered as prizes for the ‘Largest Team’, ‘Most Kilometres Run/Walked’ and ‘Best Team Spirit’. There will be random prizes including a $3,000 advertising package courtesy of the Gold Coast Bulletin, 90.9 Sea FM and NBN Television, and a $1,000 team-building voucher courtesy of Corporate Challenge. The winning team organiser will also be presented with a $200 MyFun gift card.

To be eligible for the Corporate Teams Challenge, teams must enter a minimum of 20 people by Wednesday 3 June. Team members can take part in any of the events on race day, either the full Gold Coast Airport Marathon over 42.2km, the Asics Half Marathon, Southern Cross University 10km Run, Gold Coast Bulletin 5km Run/Walk or Queensland Health Junior Dash.

Teams can also take full advantage of one of the biggest days on the Gold Coast sporting calendar by purchasing a Tent and Catering package in the MyFun TeamZone.
